Wellbeing Team
Our moral imperative as a Catholic College in the Diocese of Cairns is Wellbeing and Learning for ALL Students.
At Good Counsel College, this is supported through a team approach that acknowledges parents as the first educators of their children. The Student Wellbeing Team is made up by a number of key staff that meet regularly to discuss support for various students. The Team includes:
- Assistant Principal – Wellbeing
- Year Level Wellbeing Leaders
- College Counsellor
- Diverse Learning Leader
- Pathways Middle Leader
- Indigenous Liaison Officer
- Work & Transitions Officer
The Team regularly reviews the progress of all students through various forms of feedback and then when required, formulate targeted support strategies for those students who may need it. That support may be short term or long term and could involve support that may be emotional, learning, behavioural, social or physical.
Students and parents/carers can make a referral request to the college counsellor. This can be done in person, via phone or email to the counsellor (gcc.counsellor@cns.catholic.edu.au) or relevant Leader of Wellbeing.
We acknowledge the First Nations peoples of Australia, the traditional custodians of the land, seas, skies and waterways on which we reside, work, travel and meet. We pay our respect to First Nations elders past, present, and emerging, and support the Uluru Statement From The Heart. We acknowledge that the land, seas, skies and waterways of Australia were, are and always will be, that of the First Nations peoples.
